The Dade County High School Wolverine baseball team finished off the regular season last week when they hosted the Armuchee Indians in a doubleheader crossover match up.

The two teams finished sixth in the sub-region play and were matched up for the final games of the year for each team.

In the first game Coach Matt High said, “Not much to say we got whipped.”

The final score of the game was 8-1 Indians.

The Wolverines fared much better in the second game coming away with a 12-2 six inning victory.

Brandon Smith pitched all six innings giving up just two runs on seven hits and he recorded five strikeouts. Smith also had a pair of hits and scored four runs and picked up an RBI.

Travis Nunley finished the game 2-4 with a pair of doubles, a stolen base and scored three runs.

Andrew Blaylock and Trent Faircloth also went two for four with Blaylock having a triple and a pair of RBI’s.

Brian Weaver was one for one, walked and had a RBI.

The Wolverines finished the season with an 11-12 record and was 6-7 in sub-region play.

While losing several players to graduation a good foundation will be back next year as several underclassmen spent a lot of time on the field this season.
