DANIEL DODSON

Daniel Dodson, 66, of Lookout Valley, Tenn., passed away April 26. He was retired from CSX Railroad, after which he was owner and operator of Pappy’s Bar-B-Q in Wildwood. Mr. Dodson was of the Church of God Faith.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie O’Rear Dodson, Lookout Valley; daughter, Deborah Gail Dodson, Trenton; granddaughter, Tiffany Gail Dodson, Trenton; two stepsons, Grant and Greg O’Rear, both of Lookout Valley; two sisters, Barbara Baker and Elaine Garmon; two brothers, Lamar and Leonard Dodson; also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were April 30 in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Brent officiating. Interment was in Lakewood Memory Gardens West.

SPENCER HISE

Spencer Neil Hise, 64, of New Salem passed away April 28. He was a lifelong resident of New Salem and had worked as a machinist at Cavalier Corporation, Chattanooga, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Marie Neal Hise and brother, Prentice Hise.

Survivors include his sisters, Carolyn and Steve Fischer, Vonzelle Phillips, Margaret Hise and Elizabeth and Bruce Dockery; one brother, Edward Hise; five nieces and  three nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today at New Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Hixon and Brother Jim Blaylock officiating. Burial will be in Hawkins Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. today.

SUE JOHNSON

Glenda Sue Johnson, 81, of Higdon, Ala., passed away April 26. She was a member of Shiloh Nazarene Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Johnson; parents, Comer and Beatrice Bearden; sons, Vernon Johnson and Reggie Johnson; grandson, Tommy Lamar Porter.

Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Betty and Leon Porter of Higdon, Ala., Tina Johnson of Bryant, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Etta Johnson; brother, Mack Bearden of Ind.; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held April 28 in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Waylon Stewart, Bro. Eric Greeson and Bro. Dewayne Porter officiating.

Interment was in Payne Gap Cemetery.

HELEN KING

Helen L. King, 78, of Pisgah, Ala., passed away April 27.

Funeral services were held April 29 in the Kerby Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment was in Friendship Cemetery in Pisgah, Ala.

MAMIE LASSETTER

Mamie Lassetter, 82, of Lookout Mountain, passed away April 27. She was a member of Griffin Holiness Church. Mrs. Lassetter was a loving mother and grandmother to all her family.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Coy Lee Williams, Clifford West and Eldridge Lassetter; sister Polly Towns; parents, Frank and Dovie Pierce.

Survivors include her children, Carleton (Shawnee) Williams, Fayetteville, Arnold Williams, Johnson City, Tenn. Wayne (Gail) Williams, Lookout Mountain and Sandra (Wayne)  Guffey, Lookout Mountain; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Paul (Mary Ann) Pierce, Lookout Mountain, Lindell (Sandra) Pierce, Trenton, James Pierce, Arab, Ala.; several nieces and nephews; a host of friends and very close friend, Erika Canada.

The family of Mrs. Lassetter wishes to extend a special thank you to staff of NHC Chattanooga.

Church with Bro. Oram Whitley and Bro. Wayne Guffey officiating. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery.

LOUIE MOUNTAIN

Louie C. Mountain, 96, of Bridgeport, Ala., passed away April 23. He was a retired operator at Widows Creek Steam Plant. He was a member of Mt. Caramel Baptist Church, the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and was a Mason and Shriner. A veteran of World War II, he was a Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Army and was wounded in the Philippines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. Mountain and Theodosia Snead Mountain; wife, Clara Ruth Tankersley Mountain; and brothers, Lee, Lyle and Lake Mountain.

Survivors include his nephews Rodney and Marland Mountain of Henagar, Ala., John Braxton Mountain of Huntsville, Ala., Jimmy Mountain of Pisgah, Ala., Delaine Mountain of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; nieces, Gail Mountain Boozer of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Lynn Mountain Germany of Henagar, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Barbara Gibson of Georgetown, Tenn., Audrey Messer of Seymour, Tenn., Doris Devine of Rossville; several  great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were April 25 at Henagar Community Cemetery with Rev. Dean Johnson officiating.

BELVA PHILPOT

Belva Jean Philpot, 64, of Trenton died Saturday afternoon.  She was retired from Burner Systems of Chattanooga and a graduate of Dade County High School Class of 1966. She was a member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rick Philpot and father, Fred Wheeler.

Survivors include her son, Eddie Philpot, Trenton; mother, Bonnie Wheeler, Trenton; sisters, Betty Cates, Becky Edwards of Trenton, and Rosemary West, Ider, Ala.; brothers, Albert Wheeler, Joe Wheeler, Kenny Wheeler all of Trenton, and Lewis Wheeler of Ider, Ala.; also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were May 1 in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. John Smith officiating. Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

JAMES RALEY

James Levon “Von” Raley, 78, of Trenton, passed away April 30. He was a retired maintenance supervisor for Rock City Gardens after 43 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Erskin Raley and Ollie Kay Veal and Newt Roberts; sisters Inez Castro and Inez Bright; brother Junior Veal.

Survivors include his wife, Cecelia Kay Raley; son, James E. Raley (Sylvia) Lookout Mountain; daughters, Ronda Young (Tony), Trenton; Della Sneed (Jerry) Lookout Mountain; Linda Black, Ider, Ala.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Jessie Brown of Pisgah, Ala., Ruby Butler of Hinkle, Mary Wilks of Lookout Mountain, Bernice Veal of Lookout Mountain; brother, Billy Veal of Lookout Mountain.

Funeral services will be May 4 at 2 p.m. EDT at the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother J. L. Black officiating.

Interment will be at Friendship Baptist Cemetery, Pisgah, Ala.

Visitation is Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. EDT, Thursday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. EDT, and Friday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. EDT.

MYRNA WADDELL

Myrna Waddell, 91, of Trenton, passed away April 26. She was a lifetime member of Morganville United Methodist Church and a graduate of Dade County High School Class of 1939. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Waddell.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Waddell (Ernest) Harris, Wildwood; granddaughter, Rhonda Harris, Wildwood; sister, Sue Oliver, Wildwood and brother, Bill Hamlin, Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Graveside funeral services were April 29 with Rev. Vernon Windom officiating. Interment was in Sarah’s Chapel Cemetery.
