American Legion Post 106 hosted a Memorial Day service in Veterans Park Monday and while the attendance was good those who were not there missed a moving patriotic service honoring those who died while serving their country.
Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Today far too many people take for granted our freedom and the sacrifices those who served and are serving give for their country.
On this Memorial Day a large number of veterans were on hand as well as family and friends to take part in the ceremony. Those who spoke included World War II veteran Frank Pasqualetti, Trenton Mayor Anthony Emmanuel and County Commission Executive Ted Rumley.
In a special ceremony Emily Richards placed a wreath at the monument. Her husband, Lance Cpl. William Taylor Richards was killed in Afghanistan in June of 2010.
