HAZEL HUNDLEY

Hazel Hundley, 85, a lifelong resident of Dade County and the New Home community passed away May 31.  She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband,  Arval Hundley.

Survivors include sons, Ronald Hundley of Concord, N.C., Gary Hundley of Murphy, N.C., brother, Rev. Charles Richards of Hazelgreen, Ala.; grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were June 4 in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Trivette officiating.  Interment was in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

CLAUDE PATTERSON

Claude Newton Patterson, 87, of Slygo, passed away May 29.  Claude was born April 23, 1925 in Millstone Ky., but he moved to Slygo as a child and lived there for most of the remainder of his life. He served in the Pacific on a U.S Navy destroyer during World War II.  He worked as a Kentucky coal miner before moving back to Slygo where he was a bus driver for the Dade County School System for many years. He was a member of American Legion Post 106 and attended Slygo United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John S and Pearl Goins Patterson; brother, Benton Patterson and sister, Hazel Moore.

He is survived by sons, Mark Patterson, Trenton, Eric Patterson, Whitesburg Ky. and  Allen Patterson, Wise Va.; daughter, Deborah Lackert, Weems Va.; sister, Nancy Mullins, Sioux Falls, S.D.; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Bethlehem Cemetery Fund c/o Carolyn Moore, 199 Red Moore Road, Trenton or Hutcheson Hospice, 100 Mitchell Road, Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga.

A graveside service was June 1 at Bethlehem Cemetery in Slygo with the Rev. Vernon Windom officiating.

JAMES SMITH

James Breland Smith, 79, of Trenton passed away June 3. Mr. Smith was retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Tec Sargent after 25 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Usry Smith of Trenton; daughter, Pamela Ann Pittman of Trenton; sons, James Breland Smith, Jr. of Fla., and Jeff Smith of Trenton; sisters, Lorene Pesnell of Fla., and Carol Odom of Trenton; brother, Mack Arthur Smith of Trenton; one stepson, Greg Ball of Trenton; grandson, Aaron Smith; three granddaughters, Kaili Smith, Deborah Ball, and Susan Ball; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be today at 10:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.

RONALD TINKER

Ronald Earl “Ronnie” Tinker, 66, of Trenton, passed away June 1. He had lived in the North Georgia area for most of his life and was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a draftsman for more than 33 years and was part owner of Steel Detailers International for more than 27 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Irma Tinker; and his wife of more than 45 years, Charlie Mae Roach Tinker.

Survivors include his son, Marcus “Marc” Roland Tinker of Trenton; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Hershel Hollifield; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Elaine Tinker of Ringgold; grandchildren, Matthew Tinker, Katelyn Tinker, Kaylee Walker, Kaci Walker; great-grandson, Daniel Joseph Tinker; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held June 4 in the Wallis-Stewart Chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes with Pastor Kris Taivalkoski, Barry Wallace and Pastor Jake Edgeman officiating.

Interment was in Woodstation Cemetery.

CARL THOMPSON

Carl Elmer Thompson, 77, of Trenton passed away June 1. He was a lifelong resident of Trenton.  He was a former Employee of Gaither Machine in Chattanooga, Tenn.  He was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ballard and Mary Eagan Thompson; one brother and seven sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Myrtle June Thompson; daughters Carlene Rose of Chattanooga and Judith Thompson of Las Vegas, N.V.; sister, Mary Nell Slaughter, Bristol, Tenn., four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were June 3 in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Brother Randy Taylor officiating.  Interment was in Trenton Baptist Cemetery.

JUNIOR WIMBERLEY

Easkil “Junior” Wimberley, 72, of Chattanooga, passed away May 28. He was a retired truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George David and Ella Lou Wimberley; and a half brother.

Survivors include his wife, Tressa Millraney Wimberley; daughters, Lisa Wimberley, Treesa Wimberley; sisters and brother-in-law, Ann and Roy Brown, Jean Durham; brothers, Wayne, Lee and Vernon Wimberley; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held June 1 in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Murry McClure and Bro. Nickey Wilcox officiating.
