Dade County High School Athletic Director and head football Coach Bradley Warren introduced the Wolverines new baseball coach Thursday night to parent and players.

“I think we have hit a home run here,” Warren said. “We are proud to introduce Brad Weir as the new Wolverine baseball coach. He is an experienced coach with a proven record and we are certainly glad to have him on board,” Warren added.

Coach Weir addressed the crowd and said he was glad to be home. He is originally from Ringgold and played his high school ball at Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe.

“Growing up we always knew when we played Dade County in anything it was going to a tough game, and we want to get back to that point,” Weir said.

In explaining to the players in attendance Weir said he expected hard working, disciplined teams who wanted to win.

“We will work hard every day in practice to get better. We will start work shortly after school starts for those not in other sports,” Weir said.

Weir comes to Dade County from Eastside Covington where he took the Eagles to the playoffs this past season.

Prior to his year at Eastside Weir had spent most of his 15 years coaching in South Georgia. Before Eastside he spent four years at Wayne County a class AAAA school. They consistently made the playoffs during his stay there.

His overall record is 213-78 and he has a reputation of building struggling programs into winners.

“I love working on the field and you will be able to see that. We will take pride in everything we do and I look forward to getting started and being in Dade County a long time,” he added.
