I have had the honor and privilege of serving the citizens of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit as their District Attorney for the last 15 years. I have been very fortunate to have an excellent group of dedicated employees working with me over the years and it has been a pleasure working with the dedicated men and women in law enforcement across our four county judicial circuit who are also working hard in the ever continuing fight against crime.

When I first ran for the office of District Attorney, I made only one promise: to be tough but fair. I have kept that promise and will continue to do so. I am passionate about this job and I have worked extremely long hours since I have been in office to serve the victims of crime and the public. Most of the criminal cases coming through the court system are resolved by sentence recommendations made by the District Attorney’s Office.  The sentences handed down during my tenure as District Attorney have been among the toughest in the State of Georgia. 

I have always been an excellent steward of the taxpayer’s money. I have obtained well over a million dollars in grants to operate the Victim Witness program in the District Attorney’s Office as well as hundreds of thousands of grant dollars to fund a domestic violence task force. Grant dollars have also been obtained in the past for a juvenile court prosecutor to operate in the four counties of the circuit.

I have also developed innovative practices to enhance law enforcement and to fight crime. I instituted a Child Fatality Investigation Team, a specially trained multi-jurisdictional collaborative team, which investigates all child deaths in the circuit. The team approach developed by my office has been used as a model in other multi-county judicial circuits across the state.

I have been an attorney for over 31 years. I have served as an assistant district attorney, a Juvenile Court Judge, a private attorney with an emphasis on criminal law, a Special Master for lawyer disciplinary hearings, as District Attorney and have over 18 years experience as a prosecutor.
