Political Debates
Do you plan to attend any of the political debates planned throughout the county in the coming weeks?

By: Ted Camp, Silent Word Ministries

Every-one has had the birth of life, and everyone must also depart in death. Everyone will face an inescapable God. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). Are you ready to meet God? What about your departure? If there is a departure, there must also be an arrival. “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent (departure) from the body, and to be present (arrival) with the Lord” (II Corinthians 5:8). In some countries they do not say, “He is gone,” but they say, “He has arrived.” It seems many make plans for life but neglect plans for death. This could be your last day! Have you made plans for your final departure?
“Carl McCunn (1946 – 1981) was an American wildlife photographer who was interested in photographing the Alaskan wilderness. In March 1981, Carl McCunn paid a bush pilot to land him at a remote lake approximately 225 miles northeast of Fairbanks, Alaska. He planned to photograph wildlife in Alaska for about five months. He made much preparations for the trip. He had 500 rolls of film, 1,400 pounds of provisions, two rifles, and a shotgun. In early August he suddenly realized that he had not made plans for his departure. He planned every detail for his expedition in Alaska, but neglected plans for his departure. He wrote in his diary, “I think I should have used more foresight about arranging my departure. I’ll soon find out.” On February 2, 1982, a ski-equipped plane carrying several State Troopers landed at the lake to check McCunn’s campsite. They found his tent and discovered his frozen corpse, along with his 100-page diary.” (
What about your departure? It is now estimated that two people die every seconds on this planet. This would be 120 people every hour, 2,880 people every day, 20,160 people every week, and 1,051,200 people every year. It is sad but most of them would probably be like Carl McCunn who made detailed plans for life, but never made plans for departure.
Don’t be as McCunn, but be as the Apostle Paul who said, “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness” (II Timothy 4:6-8). Have you made plans for your departure? Are you ready to meet God? Don’t die saying, “I think I should have used more foresight about arranging my departure. I’ll soon find out.” What about your departure? Well, you could soon find out! These are Words of Wisdom.
