SCOTT ATTERTON

Brandon “Scott” Atterton, 23, of Bryant, Ala., passed away April 27. He was a lifelong resident of Bryant and was employed by DCH Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Survivors include his father Charles (Carlene Messimer) Atterton; mother Nancy (John Blevins) Atterton; brothers Brian (Felicia) Atterton, Chance Atterton; grandparents Paul and Gladys Atterton and Bud (Fran) Hicks; cousins Amanda Hogan, Jessica Holloway, Dylan Atterton, Lindsey Nipper, and Shelly Nipper; uncle Kenneth (Tonya) Atterton; aunt Robin Nipper and Donna Hogan; niece Alexus Atterton.

Funeral services were held May 2 at the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Todd Smith officiating. 

Interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery.

CHELSIE BLACK

Chelsie Boatner Black, 20, of Higdon, Ala., passed away April 27 at her residence. She died with her grandmother, Linda Boatner, from storm related injuries. She was a graduate of North Sand Mountain High School and a member of Ider Holiness Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bradley Black; daughter, Arabie Elizabeth Black; mother, Brenda Rendahl Capo; father and step-mother, Gary and Shelia Boatner; brother, Joshua Boatner; in-laws, Johnny and Mary Black of Ider, Ala.

Funeral services will be held May 5 at 2:00 p.m. CST at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Bros. Roger Shirley and Michael Clark officiating.

Interment will follow in Payne Gap Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.

CHARLOTTE BLUDSWORTH

Charlotte Ford Bludsworth, 36, of Rainsville, Ala., passed away April 27.

Funeral services were held May 1 in the Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Kirby and Rev. Rick Freeman officiating.

Interment was in Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Pisgah, Ala.

LINDA BOATNER

Linda Sue Boatner, 67, of Higdon, Ala., passed away April 27 at her residence. She died with her granddaughter, Chelsie Black from storm related injuries. She was a member of Ider Holiness Church.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sheila Boatner of Flat Rock, Ala., David Boatner of Trenton; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Brent Hill and Bryant, Ala.; grandchildren, Lauren Boatner Haney (Dustin), Trace Boatner, Bret Hill, Garyn Hill, Joshua Boatner; great-granddaughter, Arabie Elizabeth Black; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Elaine Kesler of Higdon, Ala.

Funeral services will be held May 5 at 2:00 p.m. CST in the Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Bro. Roger Shirley officiating.

EDWARD ELLIS

Edward Lee Ellis, 69, of Bryant, Ala., passed away April 28 at his residence. He served in the US Marines and was a retired steel worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Ola Mae Blevins Ellis; wife, Joann Ellis; and daughter, Theresa Burress.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Coy Davis of Bryant, Ala., Anita and Shawn McClesky, Michelle Ellis, Debbie Ellis, all of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Josh Rimas, Matthew Davis, Daniel Tucker, Devin Tucker; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Freddy Ellis of Bryant, Ala., Jerry Ellis of Flat Rock, Ala.; sister, Irene Plumlee of Fla.; special friend, Charlotte.

A memorial service will be held May 7 at 2:00 p.m. EST at Mountain View Church of God with Bro. Gerald “Bobo” Ellis and Bro. Brad Bridges officiating.

Jewell Elizabeth Tinker Ewing, 73, of Higdon, Ala., passed away April 27. She was a member of Porter Road Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Ewing; parents, Jack and Lorene McBryar; sister, Betty Sue Smith; brother, Fred McBryar; son, Terry Tinker; granddaughter, Denise Smith.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Chris Brown; step-daughter, Rose Ewing; son; Donnie Tinker; step-son, Dale Ewing; sisters, Verda Ridge, Evelyn Ewing, Joyce Manis; brothers, Sherman McBryar and Cecil McBryar; granddaughter, Cheryl Smith; great-grandchildren, Cole and David Spurgeon, Stephanie Walker.

Funeral services were held May 1 at the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ernest Lamb and Rev. Tommy Smith officiating.

BUDDY MICHAELS

William Carroll “Buddy” Michaels, 70, of Higdon, Ala., passed away April 27 at his residence. He died with his wife, Martha Michaels, from storm related injuries. He was retired from carpenter local 74 and former pastor of Ider Holiness Church

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Tawana and Jimmy Furgeson of Trenton; sons and daughters-in-law, Butch and Amanda Michaels of Higdon, Ala., Brent and Carol Michaels of Flat Rock, Ala., Perry and Angela Michaels of Flat Rock, Ala.; grandchildren, Heather Strickland, J.R. Brandy, Brittney, Cheynne, P.J., Kylie, Kaitlin Michaels; six great-grandchildren; brother, Travis Michaels of Higdon, Ala.; sisters, Glenna Higdon, Betty Horton both of Higdon, Ala.

Funeral services will be held May 5 at 11:00 a.m. CST at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Bro. Shirley Byrum officiating.

Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. today.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Red Cross to help other storm victims.

Martha Pritchett Michaels, 72, of Higdon, Ala., passed away April 27 at her residence. She died with her husband, Buddy Michaels from storm related injuries.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Tawana and Jimmy Furgeson of Trenton; sons and daughters-in-law, Butch and Amanda Michaels of Higdon, Ala., Brent and Carol Michaels of Flat Rock, Ala., Perry and Angela Michaels of Flat Rock, Ala.; grandchildren, Heather Strickland, J.R. IDA OTT

Ida Jessie Ott, 87, of Henagar, Ala., passed away April 27.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Byrun Ott; son, Robert Timothy Ott; parents, Cleon Morgan and Julia Elizabeth Majors Cox.

Survivors include her son, Williams Ray Ott of Mentone, Ala.; daughters, Janice Faye Perkins, Beverly Gaye Hammons both of Henagar, Ala.; sister, Frances Hardy of Mentone, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, several great and great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Robert Timothy Ott, 53, of Henagar, Ala., passed away April 27.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ida Ott.

Survivors include his son, Adam Ott; daughter, Amanda Ott both of Ore.; brother, Williams Ott of Mentone, Ala.; sisters, Janice Perkins and Beverly Hammons both of Henagar, Ala.

EVERETT ROBERTS

Everett “E.O.” Roberts, 65, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away April 28 at Parkridge Medical Center. He was employed with the Georgia Department of Corrections for 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Lee and Bertha Smartt Roberts; brothers, Charlie Roberts and Donald Lee Roberts; daughter, Debbie Raines.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Raines Roberts; daughters and sons-in-law, Rhoda and Albert Garza of Okla., Summer Ann Caylor of Ark., Beth and Mitch Roberts of Bridgeport, Ala., Jennifer and Lee Ogburn of La., Melinda Roberts of Trenton, Gail and Joe Shelton of Chattanooga, Sherrie and Will Raines of Chattanooga; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Kayla Roberts of Flat Rock, Ala.; brother, Fred Roberts; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held May 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Pastor Barry Tidwell officiating.

Herbert Satterfield, 90 and Elizabeth Ann Satterfield, 81, of Pisgah, Ala., passed away April 27.

Funeral services were held May 2 in the Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dwight Gorham officiating.

Interment for Mr. Satterfield was in Green Haven Memorial Gardens at Pisgah, Ala.

Interment for Mrs. Satterfield was in Friendship Cemetery at Pisgah, Ala.

JANIE SHANNON

Janie Lou Autry Shannon, 80, passed away April 27 from injuries sustained in a tornado. She was a lifelong resident of Chickamauga and had worked in housekeeping at Tri-County/Hutcheson Medical Center and National Health Care of Fort Oglethorpe. She was a member of United Church of God in Chattanooga.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Nora Ann Wallace Autry; husband, Charles A. Lindburg Shannon; son, Wallace Shannon; grandson, Chris Shannon; sister, Dorothy Autry; brothers, John, Frank, Charlie, Elder, James, Barnett and Archie Autry.

Survivors include her grandson, Ronnie Shannon of Flat Rock, Ala.; brother, Wayne Autry of Ringgold.

Funeral services were held May 2 in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Beam officiating.

Interment was in Lakewood Memory Gardens-South in Rossville.

SHELBY SHANNON

Shelby Jean Whited Shannon, 58, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away April 27 from storm related injuries. She died from storm related injuries with her parents John and Elease Whited.

She was preceded in death by her son, Chris Shannon.

Survivors include her son, Ronnie Shannon of Flat Rock, Ala.; brothers  and sister-in-law, Gerald O. and Melana Whited of Higdon, Ala., Anthony R. Whited of Flat Rock, Ala.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. CST today at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Kirkpatrick officiating.

Interment will follow in Overlook Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of the service at the church.

MORGAN SIGLER

Morgan Marlene Sigler, 23, of Bryant, Ala., passed away April 27. She was a senior Graphic Design student at the University of Alabama. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, a Christian.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Nancy Marlene Volentine Sigler; grandparents, Earl and Lauretta Morgan Marona.

Survivors include her parents, Allan and Vega Sigler; brothers, Eric (Tara) Smith & Justin (fiancé, Autumn Steele) Sigler.  Grandparents Howard and Jean Sigler; niece and nephew, Blake and Sadie Smith; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was joined in death by special friend Blake Peek. 

Funeral services were held May 1, at the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Brother Todd Smith and Ted Verville officiating.

Interment was in Ebenezer Cemetery.

NEVIL STEPHENS

William Nevil Stephens, 85, of Trenton passed away, April 28. He was a long time resident and businessman of Trenton and was of the Church of God faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife Freida Holmes Stephens; nine brothers and one sister.

Survivors include one daughter Vickie Stone (Terry Estes), Bryant, Ala.; one son Frank (Ellen) Debter, Trenton; six grandchildren, Adam, Heather, Wesley, and Kyle Debter, Sherrie (Heath) Farmer, and Neal Adams; great-grandchildren Kanyen Farmer and Kulson Farmer; and loving companion Gwendolyn McBryar.

Funeral services were held May 2 in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Henry Hampton and Wayne Cook officiating.

Interment was held in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

Terry “Tub” Lynn Tinker, 50, of Higdon, Ala., passed away April 27.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Jewell Tinker Ewing; niece, Denise Smith; sister, Pat and Chris Brown; brother, Donnie Tinker, niece Cheryl Smith; great nephews, Cole and David Spurgeon and great niece, Stephanie Walker.

Funeral services were held May 1 in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ernest Lamb and Tommy Smith officiating.

Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park.

DONALD WALSTON

Donald Lee “Donnie” Walston, 47, of Trenton, passed away as a result of injuries from the tornado on April 27. He was an equipment operator in the construction field.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland Murphy Walston and Joyce Whitlock Walston; sister, Bessie Walston.

Survivors include his son, David Walston of Enterprise, Ala.; brothers, Tommy Walston of Trenton and Ray Walston of Chattanooga; several aunts, nices and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today in Tinker-Gass Cemetery with Eddie Raines officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Tinker-Gass Cemetery.

Arnold Wayne White, 68, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away April 27.

Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Judi White of Collinsville, Ala., David Shane White of Fort Payne, Ala.; brother, Ricky White of Ball Play, Ala.; sisters, Ruth Owens of Summerton, Ala., Christine Tinker of Bryant, Ala., Shirley Smith of Trenton, Jimmie Durham of Henagar, Ala.

Judith Ann White, 63, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away April 27.

Survivors include her mother, Myrtice Austin of Collinsville, Ala.; sons and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Judi White of Collinsville, Ala., David Shane White of Fort Payne, Ala.; brothers, Delbert Austin of Collinsville, Ala., Marvin Austin of Bryant, Ala.; sisters, Virginia Ciso of Rainsville, Ala., Mary Sammons of Fort Payne, Ala., Betty Moore of South Pittsburg, Tenn., Pamela McKennon of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Wendy Rice of Fyffe, Ala.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Katherine Elease Whited, 75, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away April 27 from storm related injuries. She was a member of Owensby Chapel Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She died with her husband, John “Ob” Whited and daughter, Shelby Jean Shannon.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Gerald O. and Malana Whited of Higdon, Ala., Anthony R. Whited of Flat Rock, Ala.; brother, Wendell Anderson of Flat Rock, Ala.; sister, Caryon Anderson of Whitwell; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. CST today at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Kirkpatrick officiating.

Interment will follow in Overlook Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of the service at the church.

 

JOHN WHITED

John Osbern Whited, 77, of Flat Rock, Ala., passed away April 27 from storm related injuries. He was a member of Owensby Chapel Seventh Day Adventist Church. He died with his wife, Elease Whited and daughter, Shelba Jean Shannon.

Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Gerald O. and Malana Whited of Higdon, Ala., Anthony R. White of Flat Rock, Ala.; brothers, Charles Whited of Higdon, Ala., David Whited of Winder, Donald Whited of Ider, Ala.; sisters, Mozell Teat of Higdon, Ala., Virginia Wilborn of Winder, Sue Eley of Winder, Shirley England of Buford; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. CST today at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Kirkpatrick officiating.

Interment will following Overlook Cemetery.

JERRY WILLIAMS, SR.

Jerry Douglas Williams, Sr., 49, of Trenton, passed away April 27 from injuries sustained from the tornado in Trenton. He was a lifelong resident of Trenton and was currently working for Koch Foods in Tiftonia. For most of his life he was a heavy equipment operator having worked for Vulcan and Florida Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry “Buddy” and Violet “Fay” Williams.

Survivors include his son, Jerry Douglas Williams, Jr. of Chickamauga; brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry Ike and Paulette Williams, Sr., Gary Lee “Bud” Williams, Elbert Lee and Amy Williams, all of Trenton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Violet Marie and Steve Beaudoin, Vilette Lurana and Chad Palmer all of Trenton, Ann Marie Williams of East Ridge; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Graveside services were held May 2 in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens with Wilford Williams officiating.
