Police Search For Vandals

 

Trenton City Police Department is asking for anyone with any information on the Monday night burglary of Thatcher’s BBQ and the vandalism at Trenton United Methodist Church to please call the department at (706) 657-4167 or contact Trenton City Investigator Shawn Chapa.

They are also seeking information on the vandalism at Canyon Creek Fun Park and the ongoing problem of items being stolen from Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

 

Millage Rate To Increase

 

The Dade County Board of Education has announced plans to set the 2012 school property tax millage rate at 13.92 mills, an increase of one mill over from last year’s rate of 12.92 mills. For an average home value in Dade County with a value of $125,000 the one mill increase will amount to an annual tax increase of about $30.36.

The public will have an opportunity to address the Board regarding this millage increase at public hearings to be held at 11:30 a.m. on July 16; at 6 p.m. on July 16; and at 6 p.m. on July 23. The public hearings will be held at the Board of Education office at 52 Tradition Lane, Trenton.

Early Voting Begins Monday

 

Early voting for the July 31st Primary begins Monday.

Voting hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until noon and from 1–5 p.m. The office will also be open July 21 for voting from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The last day for early voting will be July 27.

 

Junior Ranger Camp Sessions

 

Cloudland Canyon State Park is offering Junior Ranger Camp for ages 8-12 the weeks of July 16-20 and Aug. 6-10 from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. for $100 per session.

There will also be a camp for ages 6-8 July 30 – Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. – noon for $40 per camper.

Children will work towards receiving a badge and participate in activities including hiking, fishing, ecology studies, games, and crafts.

Graduation Exam Is July 19

 

The Georgia High School Graduation Test will be administered July 19-20 at Dade County High School.

The Georgia High School Writing Test will also be administered July 18 at 8 a.m. at Dade County High School.

If you are not a current student at Dade County High School you must register with the System Testing Coordinator to take the tests.
