Votes Are Recounted
The Dade County Elections office informed the Sentinel Tuesday afternoon that they had received a request from Roxie Thompson for a recount of the votes cast in the non-partisian Dade County Probate Judge race.
The recount began at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday with all voting machines and paper ballots being re-tallied.
The recount was completed at 4:30 p.m. with David Duvall receiving 1,096 votes to Thompson’s 1,083.
Duvall will face Kerri Bray Carter in the Aug. 21 runoff for Probate Judge.
Pre–K Slots At Davis

Golf Tourney Is Saturday
Dade County High School’s softball team is sponsoring a golf tournament Saturday at Trenton Golf Course and is inviting you to come participate.
The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Registration is at 8 a.m.
Cash prizes will be awarded to first and second place teams. Lunch will be provided and door prizes will be given away.
Cost is $75 per player on four man teams. A Skirt and two Mulligans will be sold for $10.
Proceeds will go towards the purchase of uniforms and equipment.
Meteor Shower Viewing
Perseid Meteor Shower and Star Party is Sunday at 2 a.m. at Cloudland Canyon State Park's tennis courts.
Park gates will open at 1 a.m. for the event.
There will be a discussion on meteors and telescopes will be available to view planets and other deep sky objects.
Members of Barnard Astronomical Society will be on hand to answer questions.
The program is free but $5 per car parking fee applies.
