Do you plan to attend any of the political debates planned throughout the county in the coming weeks?

 

New Grocer Job Fair

 

Norman’s Food Outlet, the new grocery store opening soon in the old Food Lion building on Highway 136, will host a job fair Oct. 4, in the Commission room of the Dade County Administrative Building.

The event will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., said Debbie Tinker, executive director of the Dade County Chamber of Commerce.

 

Political Rally For McMahan

 

Supporters of Tom McMahan, Democratic contender for the Georgia House of Representatives District 1 seat to be vacated this year by Martin Scott, will hold a rally and barbecue for the candidate at 6 p.m. this Saturday in the New Salem Community Center.

Dinner is from Sticky Fingers Barbecue and costs $10 a plate.

There will be live bluegrass music, and McMahan and other Democratic candidates for local office will speak.

 

Street Meet-And-Greet

 

There will be a meet-and-greet reception for Philip Street, Democratic candidate for Dade County sheriff, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Trenton Civic Center.

Street supporters invite the public to drop by, hear Street’s ideas for the department and enjoy refreshments from local restaurant Thatcher’s BBQ. Featured fare will be Thatcher’s Cowboy Pork Spuds.

 

Upcoming  Debates

 

Next week’s installment of this election year’s series of Democrat vs. Republican political debates will be Oct. 2, in the Head River Community Center. The week after, on Oct. 11, will be the West Brow debate.  Debates at other districts will be announced later. All debates begin at 6 p.m.
