Chandler Gaddis deflects the pass away from the Indian receiver during Friday night's game against Chattooga.

The Dade County High School Wolverine football team made it three in a row last week when they hosted the Chattooga Indians in a key region contest.

The Wolverines took the lead midway through the first quarter and never trailed in claiming the 35-14 win.

Travis Nunley scored the first points of the game when he caught a pass from quarterback Luke Riddle and raced into the end zone for a 30-yard catch and run. Jon Tucker was true on the extra point and the Wolverines took a 7-0 lead.

That score would hold up until early in the second quarter when Nunley broke loose on a 50–yard touchdown run and again Tucker’s kick for the extra point was good. Dade led 14-0.

The Wolverines all year have struggled to put teams away and that was the case again on Friday night.

Up by 14 points and totally dominating the game to that point the Wolverines allowed the Indians back in the game when Nigel Dickerson found a wide-open Garrett Salmon for an easy touchdown from seven yards out. Sergio Modqueda kicked the extra point to make it a 14-7 game at the end of the first half.

With 1:52 remaining in the third quarter Nunley scored his third touchdown of the night when he ran in from 14 yards to put the Wolverines on top, with the Tucker kick, 21-7.

Again the Wolverines let the Indians get back in the game, this time with a 72 yard kick-off return by Travell Bankson. The Modqueda kick made the score 21-14 with 1:36 remaining in the third quarter.

Early in the fourth quarter the Wolverines scored again, this time on a three yard run by freshman Damien Pickering. The Tucker kick put the Wolverines on top 28-14.

With just seconds left in the game Pickering got his second touchdown of the night when he ran in from sevenyards out and the Tucker kick made the final score 35-14 Wolverines.

This was by far the most complete game the Wolverines have played this year.

The offense had almost 400 yards and the defense dominated the Indians holding them to just 78 total yards, only 15 rushing.

Nunley led the Wolverines with 195 rushing yards on 18 carries while Damien Pickering totaled 151 on 24 carries.

Riddle completed two of three passes for 33 yards, with both completions going to Nunley.

Kolbie Gass led the Wolverine defense with 11 tackles, two assists, three TFL, and two quarterback sacks.

Pickering also had a big night on defense with seven tackles and one sack.

This week the Wolverines travel to Model for the final regular season game and a possible play-off spot on the line. Most likely the winner of this game will make the play-off or at least be in a play-off for the play-off – if that makes any sense.

The Wolverines have been improving and stand a good chance of upsetting the Blue Devils. Go down to Model and support the Wolverines!
