Georgia State
Patrol has released more details about the motorcycle accident that occurred
Nov. 19 on Highway 189 on Lookout Mountain that left the motorcycle driver
dead. The accident occurred when the motorcycle crossed the centerline and hit
another car head on.
The driver of
the motorcycle, 29-year-old Brittan David Burnett of Calhoun, was allegedly
fleeing the scene of a burglary that occurred at a resident on North Sunset
Drive on Lookout Mountain. The motorcycle he was riding had been stolen from
that residence.
Two other
individuals, 23-year-old Brandy Corvi and 24-year-old Daniel Shall, both of
Calhoun, were reportedly following Burnett in a vehicle when the wreck
occurred. They were witnesses to the accident but fled the scene before
authorities arrived.
Law enforcement
arrested the pair Nov. 20 in Rhea County, Tenn., after the car they were
driving ran out of gas. A Rhea County officer stopped to assist the disabled
car and ran the tag number of the vehicle. The vehicle information came back as
stolen out of Gordon County, Ga. The occupants of the vehicle fled on foot but
were apprehended and taken to the Rhea County jail. The vehicle was reportedly
full of stolen goods.
After being
booked in Rhea County, Corvi and Shall were transported to Gordon County to
face charges there before being brought back to Dade County.
The driver of
the vehicle involved in the accident was driven by 71 year-old Glenda Blevins
of Trenton. A GSP spokesman said that she was treated at Erlanger Medical
Center with what was thought to be non-life threatening injuries.
