The Dade County Wolverine basketball team continued to dominate opponents this past weekend when they faced a pair of AAAA schools.
On Friday night the Wolverines hosted the LaFayette Ramblers and wasted little time showing their dominance. By the end of the first quarter the Wolverines had built a 10–point lead, 22-12 and they never looked back.
At the end of the first half that lead had grown to 25, 45-20, as the Ramblers managed only eight second quarter points.
The second half was a little more competitive but Dade was in complete control the entire game. The Ramblers scored 19 points in the third quarter, just one shy of their first half total. The bad news for the Ramblers was that the Wolverines scored 27 in that third quarter.
When the game ended Dade had another impressive win, 86-52 over their visitors from across the mountain.
Cole Birchfield led the Wolverines with 22 points while Dustin Howard scored 14 and Clance Walden added 12, hitting on four three–point shots. Clynt Bell and Jarrett Page scored 10 points each.
Bell also had nine assists, Birchfield five steals and six rebounds, Howard six rebounds and Nic Gaddis had five steals in the game.

On Saturday night the Wolverines hosted the Ridgeland Panthers and came away with another big win over a larger school.
The Wolverines jumped out to a 10–point lead in the first quarter, outscoring the visitors 21-11.
The Panthers stayed with the Wolverines in the second quarter as both teams had a hot–shooting hand and at the end of the first half Dade’s lead was 13, 47-34.
The Wolverines continued their hot shooting in the second half while the Panthers fell further and further behind.
As the game came to an end the Wolverines had their fourth win of the season 94-67.
Bell broke out of an early season shooting slump to score 42 points, hitting eight three point shots in the process. Birchfield added 17, Howard 14 and Gaddis 11 to pace the Wolverine scoring machine.
Birchfield grabbed 12 rebounds and 10 assists while Howard and Page had 10 rebounds each.
The Wolverines faced Marion County Tuesday night and travel to Bremen this week.
